Easter

Easter.

What a beautiful holiday.  Spring is wonderful and the symbols of life after death, spring after winter, the miracle of Christ, and the hope and peace that we will see our loved ones again.  My mom.  B’s Dad.  My grandparents.  My sister.  Those loved ones we’ve lost we will see again, all because of the hope in the Resurrection of Christ.  He lives.  The miracle of his life, sacrifice and resurrection fill me with peace, amazement, hope and desire to be better.  More kind, loving, giving, generous and the best person that I can.  For Him.

I love to celebrate Easter.

I helped MizS with a little talk in the primary.  It was about easter and the resurrection of Christ.  After she finished she said “I did it.  I did it.”  I also helped one of my nephews read a scripture from Matthew.

Matthew 28:6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

We had a special easter breakfast of Gluten free pumpkin muffins (for my gluten free sis) orange juice, eggs, toast and fruit.  I used my crystal glasses.   MisS loved her yellow easter basket and was so excited for the easter eggs filled with money.  She is saving up for a trip to sea-world.  B is just the sweetest in all the land.

We then had easter dinner and traditional egg hunt with my family.

I thought of my mom.  I missed her.  But, the joy of easter helps take the sad away.

Happy Valentines Day!

It’s fun to have a Valentine.  There were lots of years where I didn’t’ have a valentine so I got used to just thinking of valentines as a day to celebrate those I loved, and not just who I was planning to smooche later that night.   Most vanlentines days I remember getting ditched or breaking up the week before.  It’s fine though, I learned I didn’t really NEEED a valentine when I had my mom, dad, sisters, friends, n&n’s.  I would enjoy the glitter, sparkles and treats and think of the many balentines of my life and the people I loved.  Why be sad when I was surronded by people who I loved and loved me.  Focus on the love you have, not the love you wish you had!

This year though, I have a Valentine, and I really adore and love him.  We we will be making fondue tonight and playing a board game in our cozy little house.  I’m going to try this recipe I found online.  I love fondue, like a lot, not that it’s like that original but I REALLY love it.  YUM!  And B and I love cooking together, especailly when it’s freezing outside and we just want to hang out in our cozy little house.

We made hot breakfast t his morning (german pancakes) and cupid decorated B’s car…or vandalized it.  He told me he thought he was in high-school again and everyone was looking at him when he drove to work!  HAHAHA!

Cupid’s handywork. B didn’t really like it that much. He thought everyone was staring at him all day. hahah!

Mis S is the cute-est and funniest.

Hope you share today with those you love, and celebrate love in all shapes, sizes and forms in our lives.  Love is great.

wintery trees and a little valentines day

Since we’ve been back from the Caribbean it’s been busy catching up on work and life.

One morning this week I saw these most beautiful trees, covered in frost and gorgeous.  I also appreciated getting home in time to see this sunset.  I love the bare trees and their beauty and uniqueness in the branch structure.  I love seeing a sunset outlining trees.  One of my favorite sights.

I also have been feeling a wee bit valentines day festive.  I made a little centerpiece with a few pieces I had around my house and I also made a wreath.  I’m not crafty, but this wreath was easy and dooable :).  It is just a wreath wrapped with tinsel but I love it.  I love it esp when you can get clearance tinsel for 1$ so I think I spent 5$ on this wreath.  Bonus!

happy new year!!

Hi.

I am back from a lengthy drought from the blog.  It’s been freeezing and snowy and cozy over here.  B and I had a great time holidaying and eating delicious food every. single. day.  We had partys and events and finished building the studio downstairs, more to come on that.  We celebrated New Years with good friends and good food.  We exchanged gifts, sang carols, laughed, drank the traditional homemade egg nog and had a great time.  It was a close to a good year, that brought lots of change and challenges and equally lots of growth and adventure.

Looking forward to a great new year this year and documenting some of the highlights on this here blog.

A few of my new years goals, I decided to go simple this year, i’m usually a very specific goal setter but this year I toned it back.

-pray daily.  be real.  be sincere.
-be more grateful
-look outside.  (think of others)
-want less
-love B more
-live in the moment
-healthy lifestyle changes
-look inside.  spend some time getting to to know me.

That is it.  That is what i’m going to try and do this year.  Well.. Annnd grow a awesome garden.  Annnnd go to Thailand.  Annnnd do a triathalon.  Aannnd i’m sure a bunch of other stuff but I tried to think of the things that would help me be happier and more at peace in my life.  That is what i’m going to do.  Plain and simple.

Hope you all enjoyed a happy new year!

NYE 2013

NYE 2013 toast with my favorite person of 2012.

merry christmas!

I will be celebrating.  eating.  chilling.  playing dodgeball.  eating more.  sleeping.  giving all my attention to B and my family for the next little bit and i’m really happy abou it.  Remind me to share with you the jalapeno Jelly recipe.  We will be eating that and cheese balls at every party.  I will try and post the last few advents though, but until then.

Merry Christmas, I hope it is filled with love and peace and Joy.

We all are blessed with much and I hope we pause, reflect, and enjoy time surrounded by those we love.

christmas eve luminaries

Here we are at my moms grave on Christmas Eve.  We put luminarys on the graves of our loved ones who have passed on.  We  sing carols and gather round and thinking of the Joy that comes with the hope of seeing loved ones again.

Rejoicing in the promises that were brought to us by the miracle birth of the Savior.

Singing these words brought new meaning to me this Christmas Eve.

Hail the heaven-born Prince of Peace!
	Hail the Sun of Righteousness!
Light and life to all he brings,
risen with healing in his wings.
Mild he lays his glory by,
born that we no more may die,
born to raise us from the earth,
born to give us second birth.
	Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the new born King!"

sisters

Sisters are awesome.  I have 3 of them.  B&I took 2 of them to a concert on Thursday night that was awesome.  You may have heard of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir?  They put on an amazing show; moving, beautiful music, creative, wonderful.   The message was moving as they sang beautiful songs of Christmas and told the story of the Candy Bomber.  It was delightful.

“you don’t have to have alot to give at Christmas”

and

“the soul without hope will die”

Powerful messages that were really touching during the evening.

I may have cried at the story of the Candy Bomber.  It was a wonderful night.  I felt the true meaning of the gifts and giving of christmas.

holiday food binge

Remember when this happens?

holiday food

holiday food

It’s the result of every company on earth sending each-other huge baskets of deliciousness.  Fiscal Cliff?  I think not.

I’m in a constant state of harry-n-david-ghirardelli-pecan-log-peppermint-pop-corn-hickory-farms-coco-cheese-craker induced sugar coma.

I couldn’t be happier about it.

‘Tis the season 🙂
