advent – week 2

jesus_manger

This weeks advent was spent with B’s family and two darling little 16 month old twins running around with a little light in their hand that they were fascinated by it.  It was darling.  We opened with Mamma J’s accompaniment to O little town of Bethlehem.   B was mumbling the words and I was trying to mouth them dramatically so he knew them.  It was fun to share Advent with them all.

The Light of Love.

Love is what Christmas is all about.  I feel like Love is the founding principle of everything we believe.   The Father created a plan for us to return to live with him, all because of his infinite love for us.  Central to that plan was his son coming as a Savior, a gift given out of love.  The Son gave his life, the ultimate act of love.  And we too, give our lives back because of our love for them.

The birth of the Savior and the light of Love, illuminates the dark world and gives renewed hope in a previously hopeless world.  Is it really possible, all the things the Prophets have told of?  A small baby will be born that will bring salvation and hope to all of us?  This babys life a symbol of the amazing Love of one generous, wonderful, incredible God the Father.  And this baby, to grow and turn into a Savior who would give his life in the most loving act of all time?  Love is one of the most beautiful lights of Christmas.   When I think of God the Father and the Savior, I am filled with feelings of love, acceptance, warmth, hope, peace and safety.  I know they Love us, they love me.  I know their plan is all about Love, and this Love lights my life.  The light of Love also applies to our love for those around us; our family, friends, neighbors and even enemies .  Stories about cold hearts being melted by the christmas light of love, families forgiving hurts of years past and singing and celebrating again together, lonely hearts being lifted, strangers caring about others around them.  People giving and receiving gifts to one another in Love, in symbol of the ultimate gift of love already given.   Christmas is all about love.  Life is all about love.

John 3:16-17
